This time of year we are reminded of the many things we are grateful for. For most of us, it’s a time of joy, celebration, families, and gatherings, and what a wonderful time to reflect on our blessings and gifts for all of these things. This is all good, and of course, we should do our best to be grateful all year long, and not just this time of year.
What I also like to remind myself, though, is to be grateful for my own gifts, my personal strengths. So, instead of wishing I were a better writer (okay, I really wish I was, so this is a hard one), I’m focusing on what I’m already good at – what really energizes me, and how can I put those skills to their best and most efficient use?
I’ve been challenged this month to remember each time I wish for something, to stop and be grateful for what I already have and who I already am. Of course, I want to continue to strive to be better, but it’s much easier to excel when I’m already strong to begin with. I just registered for a 5 day training class on StrengthsFinder coaching and training, so you’ll be hearing a lot more from me on this in 2015!
Be grateful, no matter what.
