Over the next few months, we will be doing a series of blogs on our team, our strengths, and our HR specialties.
I’m Emily, Purple Ink’s Marketing Manager. For the most part, my role doesn’t involve me personally solving any HR problems for our clients (although I will lend a helping hand when it’s needed), so I’m usually operating behind the scenes.
I took StrengthsFinder for the first time when I was in college, but it didn’t stick then the way it has since I started working for a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach! Now that I’m working in a very strengths-based organization, I’m constantly noticing my strengths and how they affect what I’m doing.
Achiever always seems to be top-of-mind for me, though it’s not my #1 strength (it’s #3). I notice it on a daily basis when I’m striving to get things checked off my to-do list (I love to-do lists). Longer-term, though, it’s been the force behind my climb from Purple Ink’s third employee and first Administrative Assistant to Marketing Manager.
Learner was involved in that climb, though, too – I’ve spent the last year or two learning how to use marketing platforms I hadn’t used before to make sure Purple Ink’s name and JoyPowered™ philosophy are getting out there. Not to mention learning how to publish a book and make a podcast!
I’ve definitely noticed each of my strengths on a regular basis: Consistency when I make a great spreadsheet, Intellection when I’m pondering the best way to do something, Input when I remember interesting facts I learned a long time ago. It’s been fascinating to me – and here’s where Intellection, Input, and Learner come in again – to find out what my strengths are, realize how they’re manifested in different areas of my life, and hear about what these strengths mean for others who have them.
Keep following our blog to meet the rest of our team! Want to learn more about your strengths? Contact Purple Ink – we’re happy to help!
