9 Employee Policies to Review

Over the next few months, we will be doing a series of blogs on our team, our strengths, and our HR specialties.

I’m Denise, and I joined the Purple Ink team back in early August.  I came on board to handle the increasing demand for StrengthsFinder training and coaching for businesses, corporations, educational institutions, even Churches.

In July, I retired from a position I held for twenty-two years as Director of Adult Faith Formation at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.  There, I exercised all 5 of my Signature Strengths on a daily basis. From an administrative perspective, it was my Achiever and Arranger strengths that kept me on my toes.  As director of a dozen or more ministries in any given season, the ability of an Arranger to keep lots of balls up in the air at one time remained in constant play.  The Achiever in me loved the sense of accomplishment.  No task was too much of a challenge, and I basked in success – the bigger the event, the better.  And in a Church of 13,000 people, events could get big!

In my new role at Purple Ink, Learner and Connectedness seem to have risen to the top of my Signature Strengths.  Although I trained several years ago to present and coach StrengthsFinder on a Church/faith level, applying the process to Human Resources and Development has offered a whole new opportunity for learning.  My Connectedness equips me with a vision of the innumerable connections between StrengthsFinder and a myriad of HR topics: communications, leadership development, time management, teamwork and development, goal setting, strategic problem solving – I could go on and on.

I’m especially conscious of the role of my Connectedness in allowing me to relate to my audiences.  I love people and I love any point of connection I can make with and for them.  Unwrapping for them the power of their strengths and the implications of those strengths not only in the workplace, but in their personal life, their social life and their spiritual life, opens up possibilities for growth and success that they weren’t even aware were possible.  I’m privileged to witness people’s transformation in self-knowledge and self-awareness right before my eyes every time I present a StrengthsFinder-related workshop.  No wonder I love this job!

Keep following our blog to meet the rest of our team!  Want to learn more about your strengths?  Contact Purple Ink or email me directly, denise@purpleinkllc.com.  Purple Ink is happy to help!

    Hi,
I’m interested in determining the availability of a program that can be used in implementing a mentoring/apprentice program. Specifically for craftsman working with young people while painting/maintaining local churches, schools and historic buildings. in rural Indiana.
    Thanks
    Steve

      Hello Steve,
Thanks for contacting Purple Ink. I think we can help you with this request. We should probably have a phone conversation about this so I can understand exactly what you’re looking for. Let’s set up a time when you can call me. I’m available early afternoon today. Tomorrow I could talk in the morning. Do either of those times work for you?
      Again, thanks!
      Denise
