Handbook Stats

When was the last time your employee handbook was updated?  Do you even have an employee handbook?  If not – your handbook can be short and sweet with only these 4 legally essential policies.

Handbooks are helpful to set expectations for all employees.  We recommend you review your handbook every year to make sure it is still accurate and to add any revisions based on new laws or regulations.  It might also be a good time to make sure your handbook is reflective of your company culture.  If you haven’t made any updates yet for 2017, we think it’s important to have or update these policies:

  • Equal Employment Opportunity & Harassment (to include any new protected classes)
  • Drug Free/Testing (to follow OSHA’s updated ruling regarding no automatic drug testing after an injury)
  • ADA Accommodations (for employers with 15 or more employees)
  • Improper Deductions from Salary
  • Social Media
  • General Rules & Regulations
  • Family & Medical Leave Act (for employers with 50 or more employees)
  • Safety & Health
  • Military Family Leave (for employers with 50 or more employees)

If you’re not sure what your employee handbook might need to be up to date, don’t worry, Purple Ink is here!  We offer affordable employee handbook assistance; get in touch with us to find out how we can help you.
