When I was first included as an author of this book, I was excited, yet terrified. Writing a chapter in a book at 23, having not even walked at my graduation yet? Was that even possible? Could I really do this? At the time, I had my doubts, but after much encouragement from my teammates and personal tribe and reading two motivational books, I accomplished the task! I hope that my chapter on succeeding as a team inspires you and your team to be JoyPowered™.

In Chapter 4 of The JoyPowered™ Team, I explore topics that I believe can make or break the success of teams. First, successful teams must have great leaders. These leaders understand the importance of leadership and development, consistent feedback, and focusing on employee well-being. Secondly, successful teams must communicate consistently and openly, trust and cooperate with one another, and appreciate the radical candor that the team provides. Third, successful teams have a primary focus on results, and couple this with workplace flexibility. Last, but not least, successful teams understand and are fully committed to the mission and vision of the organization they represent. I end my chapter with a list of action items that will get a reader’s team closer to achieving JoyPowered™ success.
