Improving HR Processes

In the past 6 months, the Purple Ink team has taken the opportunity to participate in more training than ever.  We are working on or have received certifications in Everything DiSC®, Certified Professional Career Coaching, The Five Behaviors®, and Emotional Intelligence (EQ-i 2.0®). We attended the HR Indiana Conference, many IndySHRM and ATD-CIC meetings, and tons of webinars on a variety of HR topics, including FCCRA and the CARES Act.

During tough financial times, the training budget is often one of the first to go.  I understand the pressure, yet during lean times, we need our employees to be even better – at the top of their games as leaders, feedback providers, delegators, time managers, and more!

If your budget has been cut, there are many free webinars and podcasts on a variety of topics.  Our podcast, The JoyPowered® Workspace Podcast, is, of course, one of my favorites!   I have spent the past 6 months reading more books and listening to more podcasts than ever before, and I haven’t spent any money on either of them.  My point, of course, is that there is no excuse to NOT be learning.

Whether or not you have been to a conference, attended a seminar, or read a book, most of us have had some hands-on learning this year.  We have learned new ways to work, to work more independently, or to work with more – or maybe fewer – distractions.  I’ve created some new habits…admittedly, some good and some not so good. What about you? Are you learning to work smarter?

We have noticed that our clients who are committed to learning and training are also increasing their employee engagement and productivity.  I have long loved the quote, “What happens if I train our employees and they leave?  What happens if I don’t train them and they stay?”  What choice are you making?

Looking for some opportunities for yourself or team?  We’re hosting a 2-hour virtual CliftonStrengths® class on October 20th from 9-11 am.  Our third cohort of the JoyPowered® Leadership program starts on September 24th. You can learn more about our training services and popular topics here.
