5 Tips to Refresh Your Resume
January 11, 2023

As we begin to wrap up the year and plan for a new beginning, organizations should continue to prioritize their DEIB strategy as the professional landscape continues to evolve. Here are some things to consider in 2023:

The Great Resignation/Reimagination Continues

What is your plan to retain employees from underestimated backgrounds as more leave to set up work norms outside of corporate such as entrepreneurship? More women of color and others who have long felt undervalued in the corporate workplace are leaving to set their own culture and norms and find psychological safety from microaggressions and other exclusionary behaviors.

Inclusion Outcomes

How are you planning to create better diversity and inclusion outcomes like hiring inclusivity? What is your inclusive hiring practice and are your managers training in empathy? Without intentionality, organizations will continue to lag behind other organizations that are accelerating in these areas.

DEIB Leadership

DEIB is no longer an HR issue. Does your organization’s leadership have inclusivity skills? Leaders are being held accountable to DEIB outcomes and new hires are evaluating work opportunities based on whether an organization’s culture is inclusive or not.

Mental Health

Does your organization prioritize mental health in the workplace? Employees are more concerned than ever about their mental health. Employee mental health doesn’t just impact their personal lives; it affects their ability to do their job. When employees struggle with their mental health, organizations pay the price in lost productivity, absenteeism, and presenteeism. Employee mental health training is becoming an essential workplace component as competitive organizations invest in their people.

Over 60% of workers consider diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) a critical factor in their company’s ability to drive success. Yet a majority of companies still lack clear, relevant DEIB strategies. By focusing on DEIB, organizations can transform how their employees work with and relate to each other.
